With summer and the Christmas break fast approaching, our thoughts turn to holidays, and taking that long awaited break. We all love to get away but sometimes the getting there can be the hardest part. So here are a few simple inflight beauty tips to help you step off the plane after a long flight looking, if not feeling, refreshed.
- Everyone knows that long haul flights with a full face of make-up is terrible for your skin, but if you're like me then there is no chance in hell of you wandering around the airport bare faced in this lifetime, then just replace your foundation with a moisturiser that has a built in tint to it or a light BB cream. This way if you do decide to leave it on during the flight you are not being too hard on your skin.
- After settling into your seat remove make-up with a Micellar Cleansing Water, I use Garnier Skin Naturals, Micellar water is great for make-up removal as you don't need to rinse off after use.
- Hydrate and then Hydrate again.Drink lots of water and have minimal amounts of alcohol and caffiene. Remember to hydrate your skin after cleansing, apply moisturiser regularly during the flight and use a hydrating misting spray, it will refresh and hydrate your skin.
While sitting watching a movie take the time to apply a night repair serum into your face. You can decant all of your creams and lotions into smaller pots and jars to take on the plane.
- Brighten up your eyes. The recirculated air on planes can be a killer for your eyes so remember to pack eye drops to refresh them. No-one wants to arrive at their destination with bloodshot eyes. Ask the flight attendant for a cup of ice and place an eye cream sample in the ice to chill, and just before landing apply the chilled eye cream under your eyes. Look for one with an anti-inflammatory ingredient, and together with the coldness will help relieve any puffiness.
- A trusty "everything balm". Here in the Daisy office we don't go anywhere without Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment, it comes in tubs and tubes and it can be applied to hands, elbow and lips. The atmosphere in planes is extremely harsh on lips and no-one wants to start their vacation with dry cracked lips.
- Hand wipes or hand sanitiser is another MUST. After a few hours of flight the bathrooms in planes become less than satisfactory. It's nice to cleanse your hands before eating or applying moisturiser.
- If you have curly hair that becomes completely unruly after rubbing against the headrest, just go to the bathroom before landing, dampen your hair a little and re-style with your hands. The water should help reactivate any product you applied before leaving home.
So after working through your inflight beauty tips you may feel exhausted upon landing, but you definately wont look it!
