The Quick Beach Holiday Workout

Ah, Holiday time.. There’s nothing better than escaping these cold wintery days and relaxing by a tropical beach with a cocktail in hand. It’s bliss, I know! But having a week (or more..) off your regular routine can make it extra hard to come back to reality. Especially when it comes to fitness! So today on the blog we’ve created a quick, beach-friendly workout you can take on your next island holiday.. Just BYO beach towel!

Here’s how to stay fit on your next beach holiday, because a quick workout is better than nothing!

1. Stretch - take a few deep breaths and give your body a quick stretch.
2. Continue to warm up your body with a quick beach sprint!
Beach sprints are great as they really get your body working due to the sand. Warm up your whole body with a quick sprint along the beach.
3. 20 x Squats
Stand up with your feet hip width apart, holding your towel out in front of you. Tighten your stomach muscles and as you breath in lower your body into the squat position. As you breath out stand back up and rest the towel in front of your thighs... then repeat!
3. 20 x Situps
Sit down on the sand, use your towel to balance (one end in each hand), tighten your stomach muscles and lie back. Breathe in, and as you breathe out complete the sit up. Repeat this 20 times.
4. 20 x Oblique Twists
Use the same position as your sit up, however instead of coming straight up, pull yourself up and twist your upper body to work your obliques. Lie back down and then repeat on the other side. 
5. 10 x Superman Press
Put your towel on the sand, lie flat on your stomach with your legs and arms stretch out like a plank. Tighten your stomach muscles and your glutes, then slowly lift your hand and feet just off the ground - keep your head facing the ground! Lower your body back down and repeat 10 times.
6. The Plank
Finish your workout with a plank... Lie straight down on the towel again, get into the plank position (on your toes and forearms with your head straight down), tighten your stomach muscles and glutes - then slowly count to 20! 
Now just finish with a quick stretch and you're done...

That's it! Our quick beach workout is an easy way to keep a little bit of fitness up on your next holiday... and it won't take up too much of your precious relaxation time.
